WK Advisors and Accountants has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Simon Ross as a Director of WK Christchurch.
Simon is based at the WK Christchurch office and joins Aaron Cassidy as the second Director for our Ōtautahi branch. “Having two Directors in Christchurch adds further depth to our team, and will enable further client success stories” Aaron notes.
From Law to Tax
Born and raised in Dunedin, Simon went on to study law through the University of Otago and was admitted to the Bar in 2004. On his transition from Law into Accounting, Simon notes he “fell into tax by accident after finishing Law School”, but kept with it because he enjoys the challenges and problem solving involved with tax.
Simon and his young family moved north to Christchurch to take up the role with WK. He now frequently commutes even further north to our Blenheim office, as part of his role as Head of Tax.
His WK Journey
Simon has been with WK since March of 2020 when he was appointed our Head of Tax.
With his journey at WK starting in less than ideal times, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand, Simon has shown excellent leadership and resilience by leading our overall response, including communications from WK to clients and staff alike.
Blenheim-based Director Hamish Morrow states “Simon has been instrumental in ensuring we are keeping our clients up to date with the latest legislative developments as they come to hand. We’re thrilled for Simon, his appointment as Director is a testament to the great work he has been doing across the WK Group.”
The Future for Simon
As a Director, “Simon will continue in his role as Head of Tax for the Group, and also take on a governance role for WK Christchurch alongside Aaron as well as working with the wider WK leadership team” Hamish Morrow adds.
When asked what he is most looking forward to in the Director role, Simon says “I am looking forward to playing my part of the growth journey of WK Christchurch as we help clients through their growth journeys.”
“I would like to thank the directors and staff for welcoming me into WK and am proud to be a director of a firm with such great values” he adds.
The Future for WK Christchurch
Simon’s appointment as Director for our Christchurch office is indicative not only of the hard work and dedication he has put in during his tenure at WK but also represents a leap in growth for the WK Christchurch office.
His fellow Director Aaron Cassidy states that “Simon’s promotion to Director in the Christchurch office is not only reflecting on his breadth and depth of knowledge but also a further step in the wider growth strategy for the WK Christchurch Office.”
Simon’s role as Director at our Christchurch office comes at an exciting point of growth for the brand, with the merger of Hargreaves & Felton announced. Simon’s knowledge and expertise in the areas of complex property matters, company restructures, tax disputes with Inland Revenue and cross-border tax issues will be invaluable during this transition process for previous Hargreaves clients.
On behalf of the entire team at WK Advisors and Accountants, we would like to congratulate Simon Ross on his promotion to Director at our Christchurch office. We look forward to seeing the growth and continued success of WK Christchurch.
