OsGro was established in 2008 by husband and wife team Alice and Jeremy Oswald, who grew the company into what it is today. With a heavy emphasis on relationship based practices, they service the local Marlborough and Nelson area, as well as national and international markets.
Here’s just a few of the things they do:
Contract seed cleaning:
After acquiring their current premises in Riverlands Estate, OsGro moved into the seed cleaning business, providing the service to several national big players such as DLF and AgriSeeds.
Forestry:
OsGro occupies around 85% of the national market for production and supply of forestry seed for erosion and settlement control.
Wholesale:
They are also wholesale merchants in New Zealand, supplying Forage seeds (like Ryegrass and Red Clover) and vegetable seeds (like onion, peas and beans) to buyers in a variety of farming sectors from Cape Reinga to Bluff, as well as some international export markets.
Horticulture and Viticulture:
OsGro currently have research and development ongoing for trialling new seeds for both the horticulture and viticulture industries. They’re also trialling providing cover crop and permanent pasture soil solutions.
Agency Services:
On top of all of their other services, OsGro additionally provides agency services to the Wairarapa, Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury regions in which they source contract growers for clients to grow their seed with. They additionally have a strong community focus, with Jeremy saying they are incredibly proud to give back to the local region through sponsorships for schools and sports clubs, among other donations.
The values of OsGro are closely aligned with their humble beginning: family. Their staff are their biggest asset, with a close knit team of 8 (yes, just 8, for all these services!) growing the business into the diverse portfolio they have today.
WK is honoured to help another local business with business advisory and their accounting needs.
