A clear highlight, and one that made us all excited to get back to work after last summer’s holiday, was our then-imminent move into a brand new building, which took place in May.
The light, bright, open plan offices have provided us with a wonderful space for collaboration both within our team, and with our clients, and we couldn’t be happier at the ease of working in our open plan layout.
Business advisory is a key focus for WK, and it was a huge tribute to the hard work of our team to see WK being internationally recognised in more ways than one during 2017.
Director Neil Sinclair was recognised by one of the worlds strongest advisory firms, Mindshop, with a Rising Star Award, acknowledging a business or advisor who is new to Mindshop, but who has the potential to make a big impact in the industry.
The Rising Star Award was presented in Sydney in June, before Neil and some of the wider WK team travelled to Melbourne for XeroCon in September. There, they picked up the 100% Cloud Award for the Asia Pacific region, affirming our efforts to provide our clients the best support possible in helping them run their businesses with Xero. Xerocon is always a highlight for the WK team, providing heaps of insight into up and coming Xero initiatives.
Following this, WK made the list of the Top 30 Accounting Firms in New Zealand; beating out many bigger, multi office firms throughout the country, and just last month the WK story was published as a case study in a recent book, Integrative Advisory Services, which focuses on the benefits of business advisory, and the value of being more than just an accountant for clients.
Our teams dedication to become world leading business advisors was also recognised by Xero, who flew Neil to the US in November. Neil had a whirlwind tour through Denver, Atlanta and San Francisco talking to Xero team members and Xero Partners about our move to advisory services. Xero selected WK for this trip as they see WK as a Global Thought Leader on the move to adding value to clients. All of this recognition is a massive honour for us. Of course, the best recognition is seeing the improving results that our amazing clients are achieving with our guidance!
But of course, work at WK isn’t all about WK. Our amazing clients make what we do worthwhile, and some of them have had some pretty big achievements this year too!
