With more than 18 years tax experience, including nine years at PwC and four as director, Simon Ross joined the WK team based out of Christchurch as Head of Tax in March 2020. Simon was appointed as a Director of the Christchurch office in 2021 and remains Head of Tax for the WK group.
Simon was born and raised in Dunedin and gained a law degree from the University of Otago in 2003, after studying a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). He was admitted to the Bar in 2004.
With his law qualifications and vast tax experience, Simon is ideally placed to work closely with our clients on many tax-specific issues, including complex property matters, company restructures, tax disputes with Inland Revenue and cross-border tax issues. Simon regularly presents tax update sessions to staff and to friends of the firm.
Simon and his young family moved to Christchurch to take up the role with WK. He is primarily based in the Christchurch office and travels to Blenheim regularly to work with Marlborough-based clients.
During the crisis caused by the global pandemic, Simon led WK’s response to COVID-19, including writing client communications and keeping staff up to date with developments.
When he’s not unpicking challenging tax-related problems. He’s a regular gym-goer and sports fan, mainly of the Highlanders, the All Blacks and NBA Basketball.
